Hunt, W.T. Simpson Title: Spectra of Simple Amides in the Vacuum Ultraviolet Journal/Source: J. Am. Chem. Soc., 75 (18), 4540-4543, (1953); DOI: 10.1021/ja01114a045 Data: diagram, table Energy/Wavelength range: 150.0 - 234.0 nm Resolution: Temperature: 298 K Temperature dependence: no Pressure/Concentration: Phase: pH: Comments: Absorption spectra from 2340 to 1500 Å for dimethylformamide and from 2000 to 1220 Å for formamide are measured. Each show two broad absorption bands. The absorption maxima for dimethylformamide are at 1974 and 1621 Å and for formamide at 1717 and 1345 Å. For DMF the absorption maxima taken as 1974 and 1621 have k values (k is the absolute extinction coefficient based on 1 cm path, log10 and concentration in moles per liter) respectively of 8700 and 6960.
